Refer a Friend
Refer a Friend
Benecaster has a referral program that pays out every month — not a one-time bonus, not a gift card. When someone you refer becomes a paying member, you earn a credit toward your own renewals. It drips in automatically, up to half your bill each month, until it’s fully used.
Here’s the short version: your referral gets 50% off their first paid month. You get that same dollar amount as a credit on your account. A Studio referral earns you $74.50. That’s about six months of credit on a Pro plan, applied automatically — no code to enter, no redemption required.
How the Credit Works
Your credit is applied at renewal time, automatically — you don’t have to do anything. To make sure large credits don’t disappear all at once and to keep the math simple, there’s a 50% cap per billing cycle: each month, up to half your renewal amount comes from your referral credit balance. If your credit is larger than half of one renewal, the remainder carries forward to your next renewal. It keeps carrying forward until it’s fully applied.
Example: You’re on Pro ($25/month). A friend signs up for Studio ($149/month) using your referral. You earn $74.50 in credit. Each month, up to $12.50 (50% of your $25 bill) comes from that credit. Your credit balance gradually reduces over about six renewal cycles.
Minimum floor: Even a Starter referral earns you at least $10. If 50% of their first month would be less than $10, Benecaster covers the difference — you still get $10, and so do they.
| Their plan | Their price | Discount they get | Credit you earn |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $9/mo | $10* | $10* |
| Growth | $15/mo | $10* | $10* |
| Pro | $25/mo | $12.50 | $12.50 |
| Multi-Show | $35/mo | $17.50 | $17.50 |
| Studio | $149/mo | $74.50 | $74.50 |
*Minimum $10 — we cover the difference.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where Can I See My Referral Credit Balance?
Three places:
- Your Benecaster account at
benecaster.com/customer-dashboard/— there’s a Refer a Friend card that shows your balance, your referral link, and your code. - The plugin admin — Refer a Friend page — a dedicated top-level page in your Benecaster admin (look for the Gift icon in the navigation, after Memberships). Shows your referral link, code, and current credit balance in one place.
- The plugin admin — License & Account — the Settings → Account panel also shows your current credit balance alongside your plan details.
The balance is always visible, even when it’s $0. It’s a good reminder to share your link.
How Do I Get My Referral Code and Link?
Log in to your Benecaster account at benecaster.com/customer-dashboard/. Your referral link and code are in the Refer a Friend card. You can also get them from the plugin admin under License & Account.
Your referral link looks like this: benecaster.com/ref/[your-code]
Your referral code is the shorter version — just the unique identifier at the end. Either works.
What Can I Do with My Referral Code?
A few ways to use it:
- Share the full link — paste
benecaster.com/ref/[your-code]anywhere and your friend goes straight to checkout with the discount pre-applied - Share just the code — if someone’s already on the pricing page and ready to sign up, they can type the code into the discount field at checkout
- Drop it in your newsletter or show notes — if you have an audience of podcasters, the link works the same whether it’s clicked by one person or a thousand
- Send it directly — DM a specific podcaster you think would be a good fit
There’s no cap on how many people can use your link. Each person who becomes a paying member earns you a separate credit, and they stack.
How Do I Send My Friend Directly to Checkout with the Discount Already Applied?
Your referral link does this automatically. When someone clicks benecaster.com/ref/[your-code], they’re taken straight to the checkout page with your discount code already filled in — no extra steps, nothing for them to copy or enter.
If they close the tab without completing checkout, their referral attribution stays active for 30 days via a cookie. If they come back and sign up within that window, your credit still fires.
When Will I See My First Credit Applied?
Your credit applies at your next renewal after your referral becomes a paying member. You’ll get an email notification as soon as they convert to paid so you know it’s on the way.
If your friend signs up for the free tier first and upgrades later, the credit fires when they upgrade — not when they first sign up. Referral attribution stays active indefinitely for free-tier signups, so there’s no window you need to worry about.
What If My Friend Signs up for the Free Tier First?
That’s fine. Your referral is tracked from the moment they use your link. When they upgrade to a paid plan — even months later — your credit fires then. You don’t need to re-send the link or take any action.
Can I Refer More Than One Person?
Yes. There’s no cap. Every person who becomes a paying member earns you a separate credit. Credits from multiple referrals stack — if you refer three people in the same month, all three credits accumulate in your balance and are applied a bit each renewal until fully used.
Does My Credit Expire?
As long as your Benecaster subscription is active, your credit balance stays on your account and keeps applying at each renewal cycle until it’s exhausted. If you cancel your subscription, any remaining unapplied balance is forfeited.
Credit applies to Benecaster core plan renewals only — not add-on purchases. A maximum of 50% of any single renewal charge can be offset by referral credit; the remainder carries forward to future renewals. Credits require both the referrer and the referred person to maintain active paid Benecaster subscriptions. Self-referral is not permitted.
