Episode Categories
Episode categories let you tag and organize episodes within a show. They are separate from iTunes categories — iTunes categories are show-level settings that determine where your show appears in podcast directories, while episode categories are internal labels you define yourself for organizing your own content.
Categories appear in a Categories section at the bottom of the Details tab in the episode editor sidebar.
Assigning Categories
In the episode editor, open the Details tab in the right sidebar and scroll to the Categories section. Check the boxes for any categories you want to apply to this episode. You can assign as many categories as you like.
Categories are saved when you save the episode.
Adding a New Category
Click Add new category below the category list. Type the category name and press Enter or click Add. The new category is created immediately and checked for the current episode.
New categories you create are available for all episodes in the show.
Managing Categories
Episode categories are shared across all episodes in a show. To rename or delete a category after creating it, use Benecaster → Settings → Episode Categories (coming in a future update — for now, categories can be managed via the WordPress taxonomy admin under Episodes → Categories).
Categories do not carry over between shows. Each show has its own set of episode categories.
Categories and Your RSS Feed
Episode categories do not appear in the RSS feed and are not sent to podcast directories. They are for internal organization only — useful for filtering and reporting in the Benecaster admin.
