Getting to Know Benecaster — Tours
Benecaster includes a built-in tour system that walks you through different parts of the admin. Tours are short, focused walkthroughs — each step highlights a specific element on screen and explains what it does.
Launching a Tour
Tours are available from two places:
- Setup wizard all-done screen — after completing the setup wizard, click Take a quick tour to launch the core Benecaster Overview tour. The button relabels to Revisit the tour on future visits.
- Tours catalog — a Tours link in the Benecaster admin footer opens the full catalog of available tours. Click Launch next to any tour to start it from the beginning.
The Tour Catalog
The tour catalog lists every guided tour available in Benecaster, including tours added by installed add-ons.
Each row in the catalog shows:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Tour name | The tour’s title |
| Steps | How many steps the tour contains |
| Status | Whether you’ve completed the tour |
| Action | Launch for tours not yet completed; Re-run for tours you’ve already finished |
Completing a tour records your completion date. Re-running a tour replays it from step one without clearing your completion history.
During a Tour
Each step highlights a specific element in the admin — a card, button, section, or panel. A tooltip appears with a short explanation. Use the Next and Back buttons to move between steps, or click Skip tour to exit at any time.
If a step’s target isn’t visible on the current screen (for example, an episodes-screen step while you’re on the dashboard), the tour advances to the next step automatically.
Tours from Add-ons
Add-ons can register their own tours. An add-on tour appears in the catalog alongside the core tours once the add-on is installed and activated. This means the catalog grows as you add functionality — check back after installing a new add-on to see if it includes a tour.
