Migrating from Patreon
Patreon’s 10% platform fee scales against you as you grow. At 50 paying subscribers on a $10/month tier it’s $600/year — for the same platform you had on day one. Benecaster is a fixed annual cost. There’s also a way to start without asking your existing patrons to do anything first.
Migrating from Supercast
Supercast was acquired by Fox Corporation in February 2026. If you chose Supercast because you wanted an independent platform, the situation has changed. Your subscriber list is exportable — your audience can follow you.
Migrating from SSP/Castos
Castos caps private subscribers and transcriptions — either cap can force you up a tier. Benecaster has no subscriber cap at Growth and above. If you’re already on WordPress, switching is closer to a plugin swap than a platform migration.
How Migration Works
Every platform migration follows the same process — the specifics vary by source, but the structure is the same.
1. Install and configure Benecaster
Connect Benecaster to your subscription plugin, configure your tiers, and import your episode back catalog. This is the preparation phase — typically 1–3 days depending on how much you have to set up.
2. Run the Migration Wizard
Export your subscriber list from your current platform. Upload the CSV to the Migration Wizard — it maps your tiers to Benecaster subscription levels and creates private RSS feeds for every subscriber. Imports of 500+ subscribers run in minutes.
3. Set a grace period
Choose 30, 60, or 90 days. Every imported subscriber keeps full access to their private feed during this window — no gap in service while they complete payment setup on your site.
4. The email sequence handles the rest
A welcome email goes out automatically on day 0 with each subscriber’s new private feed URL and one-tap deep links for Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, and Castro. Reminders and a final notice go out automatically before the grace period ends.
