Can I use WooCommerce product variations with Benecaster?
Yes, with one important constraint: all variations of a variable subscription product map to the same Benecaster tier. Benecaster maps tiers by the parent product, not the individual variation. A subscriber who buys the monthly variation and one who buys the annual variation are treated identically — they both get the tier assigned to the parent product.
This is the correct setup for the common use cases: offering monthly and annual billing options, or selling the same subscription in multiple currencies or regions. One parent product, one tier mapping, all variations covered automatically.
If you need different variations to unlock different access levels — for example a Basic plan and a Pro plan — those need to be separate subscription products, not variations of one product. Variations of the same parent product cannot map to different tiers.
