Every email Benecaster sends should look like it came from you.

Benecaster sends emails throughout the subscriber lifecycle — welcome, token reset, episode notifications, migration sequences, broadcast emails to your list. Without Email Editor, every one of those emails uses the plugin’s default templates: functional, generic, and completely off-brand. Your subscriber’s first impression after signing up is an email that looks like software, not like you.

Email Editor gives you a visual drag-and-drop editor for every template Benecaster sends. Set your colors, upload your logo, write in your voice, add your episode artwork. Preview exactly what subscribers will see before anything goes out. Test-send with real show data. No PHP template files. No digging through plugin code.

Every email template. One editor.

Emails you can edit:

  • Subscriber welcome (with personal RSS URL)
  • Token reset notification
  • Tier change notification
  • Migration welcome and reminder sequence
  • Migration completion confirmation
  • License expiry warnings (admin)
  • Feed health alerts (admin)
  • Broadcast emails — send to all subscribers on a selected tier; full opt-out support

Episode Notifications (optional, per show):

Enable episode notifications and Benecaster automatically emails subscribers when an episode becomes available to their tier. Two modes:

  • Template mode: configure a reusable template once; all episode notifications generate automatically with episode-specific merge tags
  • Per-episode compose: write a custom email per episode from within the publish flow; pre-populated from your template, editable before sending

Editor features:

  • Drag-and-drop block editor
  • Merge tag library with autocomplete — type {{ anywhere to open the picker
  • Live preview mode
  • Test send (to yourself or a colleague, with real show data)
  • Per-show customization — different branding per show on Multi-Show plans
  • Template versioning — revert to any previous version
  • Template reset to plugin defaults
  • Branding: colors, fonts, header image, logo, custom footer
  • Email preview text (preheader) — auto-populated from episode description on episode notifications
  • List-Unsubscribe headers on all subscriber-facing emails — Gmail, Yahoo, and Apple Mail surface a native Unsubscribe button, reducing spam complaints
  • UTM campaign tracking on all episode and broadcast links — GA4 reads these automatically

Notify subscribers the moment an episode is available to their tier.

Per-tier release notifications fire when each tier’s availability date passes — not when the episode publishes. A Gold-tier subscriber gets their notification when the episode unlocks for Gold; a free-tier subscriber gets theirs on the standard release date. No extra configuration.

The default episode notification template includes a player card (episode artwork with a play button overlay), a Listen Now CTA, the episode title, show byline, episode description, and a “Listen in your podcast app” button linking to the subscriber’s personal RSS URL.

Subscriber-specific content, automatically.

Tag Output
{{subscriber_name}} Subscriber’s display name
{{rss_url}} Subscriber’s personal RSS feed URL
{{episode_title}} Episode title
{{episode_description}} Episode short description
{{episode_url}} Episode page URL
{{listen_url}} Subscriber’s personal feed URL
{{tier_name}} Name of the subscriber’s tier
{{availability_date}} Date this tier’s access to the episode opened
{{player_image}} Full player card: episode artwork + play button, linked to episode
{{episode_magic_link}} Tokenized episode link — subscriber accesses episode without logging in (30-day expiry)

Full merge tag catalog in the Email Editor settings — every available tag listed with a description.

Even More Powerful With

  • Analytics Dashboard — open rates and click-through rates per episode notification appear in the Analytics Dashboard, powered by Email Editor’s tracking pixel. See which episode emails your subscribers open — and which they don’t.
  • Guest Manager — the {{episode_guests}} merge tag populates episode notification emails with the guest list for that episode automatically. “Featuring Alice Smith and Bob Jones” with no extra steps.
  • Migration Wizard — customize every email in the migration sequence with Email Editor’s visual editor: your branding, your copy, full merge tag support, and a test-send before anything reaches subscribers.

Requires / Works with

  • Requires: Benecaster with any paid plan
  • SMTP: Email Editor sends via WordPress wp_mail() — works with any SMTP provider. For shows with large subscriber lists, a transactional email provider (Mailgun, Postmark, etc.) is strongly recommended.
