Turn off, or restyle, Benecaster’s base styles for its shortcodes

Free Beginner

Benecaster styles the player, episode lists, latest-episode card, pricing table, episode navigation, related episodes and the share, social, platform and RSS links so they look usable on any theme. A theme that already styles them can switch the stylesheet off entirely with the one line below.

Or keep it and adjust it. Every base rule has zero specificity, so a plain class selector in your theme always wins, and the common knobs are custom properties:

:root {
    --benecaster-radius: 0;
    --benecaster-gap: 1.5rem;
    --benecaster-icon-size: 2rem;
}
.benecaster-pricing-table__tier { background: #f7f4ee; }

wp_dequeue_style( 'benecaster-shortcodes' ) does not work. The shortcodes load the file while the page renders, after a theme’s dequeue has already run. Use the filter.

Add the filter from functions.php or a plugin, never from inside a template — it is read once, on init.

Turning it off also empties the stylesheet for block editor and Elementor previews, so the editor matches the front end.

Code

<?php
// functions.php — the theme styles Benecaster's shortcodes itself.
add_filter( 'benecaster_shortcode_base_styles', '__return_false' );
